As our 50th year comes to a close, we remember the many accomplishments that helped make us a premier natural resource conservation organization serving all Otsego County residents. We were formed with the premise of protecting forest resources and the rural character of Otsego County, and we will continue this work as well as the expanded programming that the current board, staff, and our predecessors have put in motion over the past 50 years. In order to do this, we need your help.

In 2018 we:

  • Helped three towns with their environmental policy and planning needs;
  • Were an active member of the Ag and Farmland Protection Plan implementation team;
  • Celebrated the first anniversary of our citizen science stream monitoring program; we gathered over 400 points of data, which will help protect our waterways.;
  • Got more people outside with 21 different nature hikes, paddles and kids outings;
  • Educated over 100 citizens with our "Be Informed!" lecture series;
  • Collected over 2000 tennis balls, 30,000 lbs. of agricultural plastic, 6,500 lbs. of paper, and a U-Haul truck full of Styrofoam for recycling;
  • Served on two county-wide energy planning committees to advocate for more a sustainable and secure energy future.
